Where is the best place to position my Homeplugs?

Standard Homeplugs

One of the Homeplugs is connected to the (modem) router. That Homeplug does not necessarily need to be located all that near to the (modem) router, though positioning it close by is often the most practical solution, as the UTP cable (that you use to connect the two devices together) will not need to be all that long.

A second Homeplug is connected to the device that you wish to connect to your network and to the internet, for example, a PC, laptop or game console.

Both Homeplugs must be plugged directly into an electrical socket, not in a trailing socket or extension reel. The reason for this is that the latter may affect the signal. Sitecom recommends in all cases that both Homeplugs should first be inserted into sockets located in close proximity to one another. That way, it will be very easy for the Homeplugs to establish a connection with one another. You can then insert one of the Homeplugs into an electrical socket at your chosen location. Because they had already established a connection with one another, the two Homeplugs will often then be able to reconnect with one another without any difficulty.

Wi-Fi Homeplug

Insert the Wi-Fi Homeplug directly into the electrical socket, not into a trailing socket or extension cable. The reason for this is that extension cables may affect the signal. Ensure that you fit your Wi-Fi Homeplug in a location where you wish to use your Wi-Fi most often. For example, if you are unable to obtain a wireless connection in your bedroom, the best thing will be to set up the Wi-Fi Homeplug inside your bedroom. Generally speaking, a Wi-Fi Homeplug is generally unable to provide a strong Wi-Fi signal throughout the entire house. That is not its intended purpose.

If possible, do not set up a Homeplug in an electrical socket located near the floor. The reason for this is that it could reduce the quality of your wireless signal (certain types of flooring can actually absorb part of the signal). Do not set up a Homeplug in close proximity to large metal objects, such as tables or cupboards. Metal may block your Wi-Fi signal, causing a rapid decrease in quality.
